"I don't find Mexican girls attractive" = racist

"I've never met a Mexican girl that I found attractive" = not racist

IMHO basically depends on whether you're talking about individuals or the whole race

Well, yeah. We're told growing up that being racist is one of the worst things a person can be, so obviously people will try to rationalize themselves as not-racist.

exactly

if light-skinned people cared less about whether or not their actions are perceived as a racist (by other light-skinned people?) and more about how they can actually meaningfully engage with people of colour in spite of their racism then we'd be much better at

too lazy to read the rest of this thread but i hate when people do this like okay if you consider me racist under your definition of racism sure i geuss but i'm not going to start going around calling myself racist this is just like all the people who say i'm gay for like futa and i'm just like okay dude if that's what you consider gay in your own mind there's nothing wrong with that but i'm not going to go up to my gay friends and talk abotu how gay i am and then when they talk about something gay be like im not interested in that and have them be like wtf i thought you were gay and im like i only like futa but someone on the internet said that counted as being gay theyll think im retarded

this is only slightly related to the topic but i wanted to share this story

so i was listening to this classic rock radio station on my commute to work the other day and they had some woman on who was a specialist in interracial relationships who was supposed to be quizzing the hosts of the morning show to figure out how racist they were

it ended up in an argument with the main host getting angry at how he can't make fun of black people on the show but black people can make fun of white people so the specialist started telling him about white privilege

the host came back at her and said that white privilege doesn't exist anymore and that she has never heard of white man's burden and that white people, especially white males these days, are the subject of bullying and until it stops it isn't fair

I only read the first couple posts so maybe this has been said already but: Maybe the reason you aren't attracted to a particular race is fueled by biases you have that you are unaware of towards them. Idk what you could do about it exactly other than try to look at them differently. Consider what is appealing about them instead of what you find unappealing.

Sorry for the bump, seal.

I read through this since it was bumped for some reason isn't this basically what @God was saying to you the entire thread? Do you agree or are we pretending we all disagree and are in a big fight for the sake of pride or whatever idk

In a racist society, or rather "a society with problems with racism" for people who get offended like that, what you're attracted to is influenced by that- despite your best efforts. It's better to acknowledge it outright and (ideally) work against the propaganda you're aware of so you can do better. A big part of it is we have these ideas of what someone of a certain race is Like but that just isn't realistic and is based on stereotypes. but like nobodys gonna go after you for being w/ someone of the same race or anything- but it's probably a red flag that you got some kind of fucked up ideas if you're gonna argue 'theres no way its racist' or insist so when these kinds of conversations come up (not saying you were doing this spritey cuz i dont think you were)
