Yeah same lol, I wonder if they had to skip the inhouse preorders altogether since they're having trouble meeting demand from the retail ones

Nah, people have been getting invites and placing orders. I'm pretty sure they've said they intend to get to everyone who registered interest even if it takes until after launch, it just does not appear to be first come first served as initially advertised. Some people who registered early didn't receive an invitation yet, some people who registered a couple days late did. It's probably entirely random, or Nintendo hates me, specifically.

Sounds like it's working similarly to Nvidia's program to get 5000 series cards out, in which case they are probably basing it more on individual activity rather than time of registration. Nvidia started with those who owned 4000 series cards and then worked their way down from there, no matter when you registered. So people who own newer Switch models and/or played more are probably prioritized.

That sucks ass, hopefully once the initial hype dies down you're able to snag one. All the reports about cancelations have had me checking my order hourly, messed up they were only able to let people know their orders wouldn't be fulfilled three days from launch. I've been "preparing to ship" since last week, but I haven't seen an actual charge yet.

Dealing with Target's frequent pre-authorization charges was tedious.

I'm glad it was just the controller, I wasn't gonna buy one to begin with

Costco has $75 pro controllers btw

I also bought the GameCube controller because I can't resist some analog triggers

I don't even have a membership, you can just buy it online and pay a 5% non-member surcharge. It's still cheaper than the $85 MSRP

Have you guys tried out the CRT filter in the NSO apps? I thought it would be gimmicky but it really looks great. It actually blurs the aliased edges without losing clarity the way real CRTs used to.

Darkness is the condition resulting from a lack of illumination, or an absence of visible light.

Darkness is particularly interesting in that regard. While the resulting “black” created from the lack of visible light may be treated as a color - or in the case of an instance such as a darkened room or the objects within such a room, a “state” - it exists nowhere on the spectrum of coloration whatsoever. Darkness is entirely unique in that sense among the things we perceive and refer to as colors, even when compared with its existential oppositional twin in the form of white light, which has been proven in a prismatic experiment performed in Lincolnshire, England to inherently contain the entirety of the visible color spectrum within just one of its pale beams (Newton, 1666).

Color, as we perceive it, is the result of the reflection of that visible light from surfaces - being affected along the way by the absorption of light by the object itself, and potential factors such as refraction or light pass-through of a translucent object through which the observer is viewing the primary focus of their sightline. It could be said that color “does not exist”, as it is a result of the eyes of the observer interpreting the wavelength of reflected and refracted light as a color output for the sake of navigation and recognition, however this statement is generally seen to be incorrect.

The traits that define the color output of an object, while potentially affected by factors such as the eye composition of the observing entity and any possible environmental factors in the surrounding area between observer and observed are inherent to the object itself unless physically manipulated or exposed to a single color of light not capable of prismatic reflection beyond its color. You could say that a fire truck or an orange cat are red and orange respectively, and it would be true in all cases (though the precise tone may vary based on several factors) when light containing the aforementioned tones is present and able to make contact with the objects.

Even underneath significantly tinted light, the object will primarily reflect the “intended” color when able - and in the absence of any light aligned with that color on the spectrum, it will default to a dark or dull tone, as all light has been absorbed by the object. This is almost never a “true” black however, as it is extremely rare for an object to be unable to reflect any light whatsoever outside of materials engineered specifically in order to do so. Furthermore, we must think beyond the nature of the human eye when discussing the nature of light and color, as several species - largely insects, birds, and reptiles, though some mammals maintain this capability (Hockberger, 2002) - are capable of viewing a spectrum far greater than what we see, and an object that we may perceive as black due to absorption of light visible to humans may in fact reflect a vibrant color to those able to view the expanded ultraviolet spectrum.

The exception to these rules is when the object is under the cover of complete darkness.

Fun With Despair
I still have absolutely no desire to get a Switch 2. MK World seems to be mediocre, Bananza looks good but not console + game price justifying good, and there's like fuck all else on the horizon. This might be the first generation where I just outright don't buy the Nintendo console.

That feels weird in a sense, but it is what it is. Maybe when there's a Zelda though if it's another BotW-like I don't even know how much I will care about that.

Funnily enough I'm mostly using the Switch 2 for Switch 1 games, it's way more comfortable to play in handheld mode especially with the Killswitch case, I'm getting some actual mileage out of the handheld variant so that alone has made it worth the purchase price.

MK World is really cool (I love the ADHD mode where you drive through the tracks without breaks in-between) but I wouldn't call it a must-have for anyone who already has MK8 on the switch
