This is a very good point, we kind of just ignore the opinions of children as if they haven't actually started their "real life". But in many cases 16 and 17 year olds have a better idea of what's going on than people over 70.

Honestly maybe it shouldn't be done by age, but not everybody should be able to vote. You should have to have some kind of proof that you're capable of making a reasonable, informed decision. Voting for someone without a good reason isn't freedom; it's just polluting the decisions of people who understand the consequences of their actions

But that makes me feel like an arrogant asshole kind of?
