but going off yrr's point people who say "monogamy isn't natural" are stupid, because quite a few animals are monogamous

if people are polygamous I don't care do whatever you want, but dont go claiming people who aren't are freaks

I never meant to imply that being gay was easier than being straight because obviously that's not right, Draku's interpretation of my post is correct, one would assume that in homosexual open relationships that both partners are equally disadvantaged on the basis of having the same place in the dating world. If SP feels that that's incorrect who am I to argue? He has more experience in that field than I do.

I don't, however, buy that "women get laid easier than men" is reductionist. While there most certainly is pressure for women to look and behave a certain way, in my experience it's much more common for men to "fuck down." This is purely anecdotal, but I've seen way more skinny/fit guys with fat girls than I've seen of the vise versa. In fact I don't think I've once seen a skinny, conventionally attractive woman with a fat man.

Of course that experience will be written off immediately because it doesn't sound very nice :C

Arguments about relationships being natural or not are ridiculous. We're harnessing the power of magic crystals and glowing screens to post on a web forum but our relationships are only legitimate if we fuck like dogs?

I'm pretty certain if you're a straight guy your only goal is to go out and have sex that it wouldn't be that hard. There's a lot of reasons why that'd be a bad idea, so you wouldn't, but the option is there. Now if you were a women, the dangers of going out and looking for sex gets compounded a lot. Women have to vet their partners a lot more than men do, so it's probably a lot harder for them to have random sex _safely_. Different dynamics, sure, but different doesn't mean easier.

Do you know the reason PayPal, etc. doesn't do Adult content? Surprisingly, it's not because of Christian morals. It's because dudes who buy porn are way more likely to do chargebacks or whatever else. Some of it is because their wife or whoever sees the bill and is like wtf is this and the dudes like "I DONT KNOW SOMEONE MUST HAVE HACKED MY CARD" but a lot of people just want to steal shit.

Aside from the US President, Guy Fieri, Kevin James with Huge Jorts, Chaz Bono, Mick Foley, Mario, and Fred Flintstone, right? Obviously I can't list examples from your life but they're out there and not too hard to find if you pay even the tiniest attention to the outside world.

I am willing to bet that straight women are less likely to want to start a relationship with a random fat guy off the street, but if you're putting all that work into fitness and makup and whatever else of course you're going to want something out of it.
Especially when financially it's harder to get by when you're a woman, might as well go for the dudes with the money and power if you can get it and get some financial stability in your life- sucks but that's capitalism for ya.

main thing though: idk why you can't just talk about relationships without having to point fingers and say well someone else over there has it easier when you have no idea how they live lmao

open relationships are entirely dependent on the specific partners involved, regardless of gender or orientation. Some people are just not compatible with it and it's not an issue for one partner to decide alone, it has to be both people involved in that discussion. I'm strictly monogamous and some sorta gay in that I've got attraction for people of many genders but there's a bigger expectation on lots of marginalized sexualities to be open or else you're 'perpetuating heterosexuality' in your queerness, which is something I think SP was trying to touch on although maybe not in those words. Honestly I don't mean to reignite any fires here but I think he's right in that it's alarmingly reductionist to see a bunch of straight dudes who think its hard on them to have open relationships when the impetus and most of the struggle is entirely on people who aren't dudes and aren't straight, like. There are dudes who have a 'girlfriend' and an 'open relationship' which is actually just them going out and having one night stands because they want to be unfaithful and openness gives them an excuse to do that while their 'main' girlfriend has to live with that but no it's totally easier and safer for girls to navigate being open, right? I guess I just don't understand where your frustration stems from, and not to put you on the spot T-man but you're very talented and based on your avatar at least decently cute, so I can't imagine you would have much difficulty finding girls who like you if you look in the right places. Another thing mentioned was this concept of 'laying down' or some other wording wherein men will fuck women less attractive than they are when, as Mario pointed out, the opposite is almost always true.

Alright listen up you nerds, I've been in a polyamorous relationship for around two year and it's one of the best decisions of my life. My reputation as a Passionate Lovemaker and Intimate Companion is revered throughout my circle of friends, and the close bonds me and my woman have formed have had an unbounded impact on our spiritual ascension. The respect I have for my bitch has grown immensely, and being able to confidently discuss our innermost feelings about other people without fear of repudiation has brought us closer than ever. Love is not a scarce resource, you have been deceived by your capitalist overlords.

I think the most important thing with an open relationship is that it's a relationship. With another person and more. Even just a monogamous relationship can be very difficult to work and maintain, so throw in more people and you get the added complexity. But if you can get everyone on the same page it can be a pretty damn powerful way of building a family.

Right. Same rules apply. I think people tend to perceive polyamory/open relationships as this totally off-the-wall concept but 99% of what makes these kinds of relationships successful is the same as what makes monogamous relationships successful.

I'm not sure why the "straight men have to work harder to find women" thing is important to the discussion of open relationships tbh, it seems like more of a discussion for just relationships in general. It kind of sounds like you're trying to compete with your wife/gf to get more sex and that isn't really what an open relationship is supposed to be about.

it shouldn't be a competition but if your gf is getting tons of ass and you're getting zero it's less an open relationship and more like cuckoldry

That's not an open relationship.

If your partner is only putting out for others, that is literally cuckoldry.
