No TV mode seems like a deliberate downgrade, but it looks good for those only interested in a dedicated handheld.
I'll be waiting for the deluxe version before I retire my current Switch.


As an aside, I hope the maniacs who want a TV-only Switch never get one

I don't like it. Looks awful and has a bunch of features removed. Plus, it's probably unhackable too.

here's hoping the joysticks don't drift in a few months like with the normal joycons :^)

Honestly I really like that they're doing this. The d-pad is great and that one honestly surprises me. But also just having a dedicated handheld switch like this is going to encourage developers to make sure to optimize for handheld modes in their games. Regardless if you're getting one or not I think it's a win/win for switch owners.
