Nintendo has like a billion studios and teams, they can definitely afford to branch out. I mean, they were honestly working on this thing at one point.



I realize that the expectations of the west are more steep than that of the Japanese market, but they target more than one audience at a time. Especially when their target market has left them for smart phones and are never coming back.

like i said before, the real number of people who would be willing to pay for nintendo products outside of japan is really low. the ones who do like nintendo are either kids who get video games for birthday presents and dgaf about marketing or a very small percentage of adult video game enthusiasts that are notoriously hard to please anyway. the latter probably account for an incredibly small percentage of nintendo's net profit.

afaik most japanese companies don't focus on exponential profit growth as much as longevity and living within their own means. so yeah maybe passing up on unsustainable short term growth is not wise for a company like nintendo.

moving to japan isnt going to make mario sunshine 2 come any faster

if moving there helps you to invest your time into something other than complaining about nintendo's business model then maybe it will seem like it's coming faster

I would fucking love to be proven wrong but I'm not going to be.

Regardless of whatever NX actually turns out to be, the following will be true:
- It will have a gimmick touted as innovation
- Said gimmick will lead to either a too-high cost (so people won't buy it) or a litany of compromises (so people won't buy it)
- It won't be able to compete with other consoles, but this is fine because nintendo is special desu~~ and they can magically stay afloat without making money
- BONUS: It'll have a stupid name
