dang ol' bad rule, it's stupid; I still have trouble spelling received because I somehow always fail to remember that the "rule" is wrong for that one

I think back when I was in high school that rule was regularly made fun of by outspoken smart kids and teachers alike whenever it was brought up, and it was never actually given to us as a thing to go by so *shrug* I didn't know it was a thing being taught
