PART 7: HOW TO MAKE ONE OF THE WORST CHARACTERS IN ANIME HISTORY, PART ASS

This is it. This is the shittiest part of this already shitty shitfest of a shit season. THIS CHARACTER is who everyone remembers when they think about why GX was so bad. He's so fucking bad that the supplemental material available for Symphogear built him up as terrible in the first two seasons' sidelines. So let's get on to how they choose to introduce this wonderful patriarch. Like I mentioned, the first two seasons had supplemental material available on the website that elaborated on much of the lore and background of the story, a few bits of which elaborate on the aftermath of the disaster that made Hibiki, the main character, into a Symphogear user. It was a big tragedy shown in the first episode of the initial season, and they build on the effects it had on Hibiki in the past as the show goes on, making a big point out of it in Season 2 in particular. Having survived an event that slaughtered thousands of people, Hibiki was ostracized and blamed for living through the ordeal as a sort of living punching bag for those around her grieved by the loss of others, including kids from her school. Now, this would be a great time for her parents to be supportive and help her through such a terrible time, right?


Hibiki's father turns to alcoholism and the side materials even mention him BEATING HIS GOD DAMNED FAMILY before just fucking bailing on the situation entirely. He's completely missing from the first two seasons and it's clear Hibiki doesn't even want to think about him. Now, for him to appear three seasons in is surely so that he can get what he deserves for being such a fucking terrible person, right? Hahahahahaha. HAHAHAHAHA. Okay, anyways. So he appears without the viewer knowing who he is as a coward in the midst of an attack by the show's primary mob monsters, and one of the Symphogear users asks him to help guide the nearby children to safety. To which he replies...


Then he runs off, as is his finest skill. Later in the episode he's run into by one of Hibiki's friends, Miku, who he recognizes and acknowledges as such. Then, oh shit, Hibiki sees him. Both are dumbstruck, and Hibiki runs the fuck off. Now, this really should just end here. No good can come of trying to "fix" such a dreadful person, right? Nah. Miku, not fully understanding the situation between the two, asks Hibiki to get her to work it out with her father. Maybe something good can come of this, maybe he's changed in a few years. So they meet at a diner and try to talk, which doesn't go well. Hibiki has trauma from how fucking awful of a person he is and he's still exactly the same as he was when he ran off. Hibiki gets up to leave, and...


So, this utterly beyond horrible father is an unsolvable issue, right? Hibiki will learn to turn her back on her past and continue on without such a shitter in her life, right? It's so bad on her mental psyche that she fucks up during the next fight she's in because she's focused on her father's terribleness, before...


They try to turn it into Hibiki's fault. That's god damned right. They fucking have her think about how it's all her own fault for living through the ordeal and just NOT DEALING WITH IT WELL ENOUGH. That's the same as her father becoming abusive and leaving. THIS IS PRESENTED AS EQUAL. FUCK SYMPHOGEAR GX. It's all on Hibiki to repair her family now. Hell, even Miku at this point has realized she fucked up something fierce when she sees Hibiki again, and tries to apologize for not understanding just how terrible Top Dad is. Hibiki will have none of that, and resolves that it was ALL HER FAULT. Yeah, the person who knew to run away at first sight of a fucking monster is at fault. Jesus. BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE!


Miku flips her position around entirely and starts goading Hibiki into making good with her father again. This makes NO SENSE AT ALL and matches up neither with what the previous episode presented nor how Miku's character works. Not that she's even in GX much, despite being a major player in the previous two seasons. She is literally around in GX to be a force that shoves Hibiki towards Top Dad and nothing else, it's absolutely disgusting and an insult to the character. I can't fucking believe this shit.

Fuck this garbage season I'm going to continue this rant tonight.
