DAY 2 - Silence of the Noise
Ah, I heard about this potato phenomenon of killing annoying characters a while ago from Jack! We should check Theodore's stomach for potato peels!

Also is there anything visibly banged up or smashed in Century Agave Dorm?
You investigate, and find that the answer is Jessica's bed. It has been brutalized like hell, and someone has carved 1873 into the nightstand in massive numerals.

Got a wild hare from Kroos and I'm rarin' to chase it. Those casino chips, how close are they to our round and circular stab wound?

He's empty-gutted.
You check his inventory black hole in the process. He has empty jars, a cowboy hat, a deputy's badge, a trowel, a poncho, dentist pliers, tailoring scissors, and an apron.

Alright y'all here's how things went last night
So after that whole business with the pork I figured some folks might be mad at Partitio, and I didn't want nothin' bad to happen to 'im 'cause he seems like a good feller. Obviously he ain't workin' for Texas Red 'cause he's got yellow in his name, and that's a different color all 'round. So I left my dorm and saw Deathborn - also known as TEXAS RED - leavin' Prickly Pear and goin' west followed by Mizzlebip. Then I saw Partitio leavin' the bank and took it upon m'self to be his bodyguard for the night.
That Cascabela came up and snapped his picture, then Partitio and I went on down over to Minin' Equipment and then the Mineral Storage where he started talkin' to Momoyo. I don't know why he's gettin' mixed up with that crowd 'cause she's workin' for Texas Red and he ain't but I s'pose he must have his reasons anyhow. While they were talkin' Akira came runnin' on through to Century Agave and was followed by Roland clutchin' his noggin. I think somethin' mighta went down there but it ain't what we're tryin' to figure out anyhow. So after they were done talkin' we went to the Cemetery and then I got a bit distracted and wandered off.
So then I went on through Carpentry and saw McJango doin' some carvin' and Tsavorae goin' upstairs and into the dorm. I grabbed some supplies for my newest plan to stop Texas Red, went through the General Store, then into the Saloon. Guess I caught back up with Partitio 'cause he was comin' in at the same time, then Not Shane right behind us. Cascabela, Strong Bad, and Reginald were all in there already. I started to go upstairs and then I heard someone get shot, which I figure was poor ol' Theodore, but I never saw 'em. I went upstairs and went on into the Brewery instead, where I got m'self a barrel. I rolled it back downstairs and over to the water tower and saw Honoka tendin' the animals. I got the barrel up on the top of the water tower and saw Evangeline goin' into the Stable while I was doin' that.
Now, I think this plan was mighty clever. I tied the barrel up there and I was gonna drop it down on Texas Red's noggin when he came by, but he never showed. Sorry y'all, I'll make sure to get 'im next time. But while I was up there I saw Reginald takin' a gander at the base of the tower, and later Honoka headin' off east somewheres and Bud walkin' away from the purple building to do some wanderin' I reckon. Eventually I gave up and went to go sleep by the door to the Explosives Storage to make sure no one tried nothin' funny with 'em.
If you think I'm makin' any of this up Marty will tell you I ain't
Yeah, everything he said was true, I was there
Thanks Marty

What's behind the counter in the Saloon?

Well... that's half of the deputies gone already. It seems like everyone else is rather happy about Noise's death. I didn't know him very well, maybe he had a darker side I hadn't seen yet.
I had quite a busy night, but I'll try to keep this brief.
- First I went to the Army Post to reload my arsenal. Strong Bad was there. North Star was also there and went up the stairs.
- Next I went to the Sheriff's Office. Not Shane gave me a new assignment, capture McJango. Unfortunately he assigned it to me after I wrote my submission so he'll have to wait until Night 3.
- I go to the Farrier and grab some rope. As I leave, I see Honoka heading to the Livestock Corral and Partitio walking over to the Cemetary.
- I pass through Carpentry. Ranger also passes through. McJango is there doing some carving.
- I head upstairs into the Doctor's Office. I hear some gunfire from the Target Range. I grab some pain killers.
- Lynne comes out of the Target Range and I enter it. I hear a loud gunshot nearby.
- I continue through the Trading Post and Mining Equipment then go to the Blue Building. Marisa is going toward the Movie Theater.
- I enter the Breakroom and keep watch to make sure nobody else tries to construct another wire trap like last night.
- The only person I see of note is Akira entering Film Equipment.
- I head out the back of the Blue Building and make my way back to my dorm.
- Not Shane stops me, and invites me to play a game of cards in the Officer's Club. Reginald Fikwerther, Neil Marshall, and Strong Bad are there too. I join them and we play a few hands. On the way there we see Nico leaving the Sheriff's Office.
- Once we're done playing I finally make it back to my dorm.
Anything hiding under the floorboards?

Dangit, who took the key off the killer doctor? I needed that to make potions.
Eugh, it’s whatever, I’m sure I can scavenge some materials out here, though I’m mostly used to forests and valleys, not deserts.
![[Image: Marisa-Neutral.png]](https://i.postimg.cc/26Yv7WBg/Marisa-Neutral.png)
Well, as you can guess, my night started out heading to the cemetery to grab the key off Jessica, but since it was swiped, I left disappointed. I also saw Lynne and King of Clubs heading to the cemetery, but I didn’t bother them.
I went to grab a quick drink at the saloon next, since a night isn’t complete without some alcohol, and I just saw Cascabela and... what was his name? The guy who didn’t say anything until after we found the killer last night. I also saw Ace coming from upstairs and exiting north, which reminded me of some plans I had.
![[Image: Marisa-Excited.png]](https://i.postimg.cc/cLVf621x/Marisa-Excited.png)
It was a night for a bank heist! Roland, Ace and I were going to check out the vault at the bank, though I was surprised Hifumi joined us, but it’s fine. The more the merrier with these sorts of things!
Though, I’m probably not the best to recount what happened down there. It was all very confusing, lots of machines you can’t really find in Gensokyo and stuff about something called “liturgic esotera.” It seems Deathborn’s organization was running things around here, and they were using faith for it or something.
![[Image: Marisa-Sad.png]](https://i.postimg.cc/DZcGjzr0/Marisa-Sad.png)
Well, all fun times come to an end, and we left, the other three heading west, while I went down to the mines to talk with Momoyo some more. I wanted to see why she was helping Deathborn, but she was all blase about it, which I really should have expected. You can’t really talk masterminds and their collaborators out of their incidents, you gotta beat them into submission.
![[Image: Marisa-Neutral.png]](https://i.postimg.cc/26Yv7WBg/Marisa-Neutral.png)
Other than that, I wanted to get into the Western spirit, so I went to try out one of those cool hats at the general store and watch a... “moovee?” I think it was called, those were very cool. When I did leave the Orange Building, though, I heard a gunshot. Now I’m realizing it’s probably related to our murder here. I also saw Mizzlebip going to the stable and Akira heading to the blue building as I was walking to the general store. Hollywood Bowl and Honoka were fixing up one of the doors in the lobby when I finished the movie and head to bed
Random thought that probably won't go anywhere but is the bag of flour still sealed? If it's visibly not, or generally there's any appearance of tampering compared to like, factory fresh condition, just to be thorough let's sift through it in case anything was hidden in it.
Any sign of flour around the oven where the explosion happened, or around where the Noise was discovered? What about bloody, or floury, footprints between the Restaurant and Gambling Parlor, like if Noise had limped away on his own? Or conversely, any sign of him being dragged?

It is currently sealed, as if it was right from the factory.

Inspecting the area of the blood trail, you see no flour. No flour in the restaurant beyond the sealed baking stuff, and none in the Gambling Parlor. A closer look at the blood trail does suggest bloody footprints, however.
Ah, hello. Good evening to everybody.
It has been long night of much work and toil, but my effort to repair our food situation is making progress. Lots of details to share, can't wait!
The night began in my bedroom, from where I went over to the Restaurant first thing, to retrieve my cart. I had left it there the prior day. On my way I saw Reginald Ferkwerther in the Saloon. I took the cart over to the General Store to fill it with various nourishments, to replace the ones that got ruined by the last investigation. I also go over to the Orange Building to pick up some further supplies.
On the way there I see Roland go into the bank, and I also run into Bud. The poor man was so famished, he wants to eat a cactus and asks me for assistance. I would love to help, dear, but with my kitchen operation under such dire threat, my hand is tied. I promise I will prepare you cactus fruit bowl tomorrow, once everything is settled. You have my word as a chef.
I enter the building and look for stairs up, seeing Momoyo in the mines. I enter Trading Post, where I complete the first step of my kitchen security plan.
*flapping noises*
Meet little Panimajesh, my new security officer. I rescued him from Trading Post cage and he will help me protect our foodstocks in the future.
While I am up here, I begin looking around the second floor rooms for a number of things that will further help me. A few things happen while I am here. I see Mr. Zeppeli in the Target Shooting Range. A little while later, in the middle of collection, I hear rhythmic shooting coming from the range. I then later also pass through the Funeral Home, and something a bit strange happens here. I hear noises, like someone is walking around, but I cannot see them.
With all errands upstairs complete, I go down and make for the Carpentry, where I see the naughty McJango cat doing mischief. I leave it be and grab some nails, which I bring with me to the Blacksmith. Detective Ventura is here, doing a bit of work, so I join him. Working for long in badly ventilated shop is tiring though, so after some while I go back upstairs (passing by the cat in Carpentry again) and vent some stress by shooting at targets in the range. It was good for my heart. I see North Star pass through to the Trading Post as I do this. He also sees me later as I leave the Orange Building.
With all the supplies gotten, I go over to the Saloon to drop them off. I see Not Shane, Reginald Fikwerther, Strong Bad, and Neil Marshall here.
Finally, it is time for the last step of my kitchen security plan: Orienting the new employee. I go for a quick trip over to the General Store to retrieve some corn (positive reinforcement, I think it is called), then I head into the stable, where I begin to instruct little Panimajesh in his dew duties. Mr. Zeppeli is here again, tending to a Red Horse. Hopefully our work has not disturbed him too much.
Work was bitter and difficult. But the training in the stable was a success!
And now, if, say, a dangerous hoodlum were to suddenly appear before us, brandishing his or her ill intentions...
*SCREECH* *SCREECH* *SCREECH* *SCREECH* *SCREECH* *SCREECH* *SCREECH*
*SCREECH* *SCREECH* *SCREECH* *SCREECH* *SCREECH* *SCREECH* *SCREECH*
Our kitchen is going to be ready for trouble!! Have at you, defiler of the meat!!

These mines... yeah, there's something going on in this place alright. Being down here... It's like walking along the Backstreets, the encroaching night close at your heels. Hah... it's enough to make the hair on the back of my neck stand up straight.
I'm not gonna lie to you though, if I put my instincts aside... something about these tunnels makes me want to dig deeper.
![[Image: rolandnormal_uwrx9r.png]](https://res.cloudinary.com/douwhkm19/image/upload/v1733725563/Wild%20West%20KG/Talksprites/rolandnormal_uwrx9r.png)
... 'Course, it's not that easy. Seems like someone long ago had the bright idea to seal them up - whole expedition was a waste of time. So... might as well start from the top, huh?
Yesterday... there was a buncha weird stuff that nobody really touched on - and seeing as I had that item from the piano... Thought I'd give a few of these places a once-over myself. First... that graveyard. All those letters dumped in the Post Office... all addressed to one guy. Spencer Edwards. Guess I thought he must've been some kinda bigwig or something around here back in the day, so I went to the Graveyard to do a bit of intel work.
![[Image: rolandsigh_jjwkvk.png]](https://res.cloudinary.com/douwhkm19/image/upload/v1733725464/Wild%20West%20KG/Talksprites/rolandsigh_jjwkvk.png)
...I told you guys yesterday I wasn't any good at that sort of thing... Couldn't find a grave for the guy, just the ones we already knew about, with 1873 being the date of death. Guess that means that he either died earlier, left town, or survived whatever happened. Agent Evangeline was here too, lookin' into the same thing. She said something though, something that caught my ear.
Whatever Association's in charge of her operations... they picked up some kind of Liturgic signature from around this place. Apparently might have something to do with Atua, which means...
![[Image: rolandhuh_qfttay.png]](https://res.cloudinary.com/douwhkm19/image/upload/v1735953430/Wild%20West%20KG/Talksprites/rolandhuh_qfttay.png)
Eh... no sense worrying about that for now. Anyway, I met up with the cat, and that's when we headed for those Mines. Believe me, going underground like that, you never know what's waiting for you. Needed backup, so I took the little guy with me. Figured he wouldn't cause any trouble, and besides, thought he could fit into places I couldn't.
Thing is though... Someone wanted to keep something hidden down there. The tunnels all collapse after a certain point, and it didn't look like an accident - more like someone caved 'em in on purpose. All that effort to seal them up, and with lots of silver still down there too. Figured a mining operation would've wanted that stuff, right?
What a pain in the ass...
![[Image: rolandpained_rdho5b.png]](https://res.cloudinary.com/douwhkm19/image/upload/v1733725390/Wild%20West%20KG/Talksprites/rolandpained_rdho5b.png)
...Speaking of a pain in the ass - wasn't even out of the mines for a few minutes when someone hit me over the head and took the thing I picked up from the piano. Well, there's no hard feelings either way. That's that, and this is this. Who hasn't beaten somebody with a stick at least once?
Anyway... Guess I might as well come clean about it. On the back of the sheet music... was a list of passwords. Woulda' tried to be a little more covert with the stuff I did tonight, but there's no point keeping a secret now, is there? 'Least I managed to commit them to memory before they snatched 'em...
![[Image: rolandnormal_uwrx9r.png]](https://res.cloudinary.com/douwhkm19/image/upload/v1733725563/Wild%20West%20KG/Talksprites/rolandnormal_uwrx9r.png)
Thought I'd get some use outta those passwords before my attacker got to use 'em, so I met up with Marisa, Hifumi, and Ventura. One of those codes looked like it belonged to that Vault in the bank - and again... safety in numbers. We went together, thought it'd be safer. They all knew I had the code, figured they could watch my back.
So we walked up to the vault while Ventura kept watch... and the code worked. Slid that big, heavy door open, and inside...

Buncha silver ingots, stacked up to the ceiling.... and a staircase hiding there between the piles. Ventura said he'd stand watch and make sure nobody followed us down - and I'm inclined to trust anyone who pours a drink like him.
Well, the three of us headed down, and what we found...
![[Image: rolandsigh_jjwkvk.png]](https://res.cloudinary.com/douwhkm19/image/upload/v1733725464/Wild%20West%20KG/Talksprites/rolandsigh_jjwkvk.png)
...Haah.... Couldn't believe my eyes. Running underneath this town... is some kinda Crimson Eye Laboratory. Couldn't make heads or tails of any of the equipment in here, but a few of the files in the archives down there mentioned the same Liturgic stuff Agent Evangeline was talking about. Wandered around a little more, but two of the doors we came across were locked. Key and passcode... and the latter wasn't a big fan of my vault code.
Some kind of testing room too, don't even want to think about what they were doing down here. Won't bother elaborating further, you can check it out yourself. I'll unlock the door for you if you want, got nothing to hide now.
![[Image: rolandhuh_qfttay.png]](https://res.cloudinary.com/douwhkm19/image/upload/v1735953430/Wild%20West%20KG/Talksprites/rolandhuh_qfttay.png)
Well, after we got outta there, can't say a whole lot got done. Went with Ventura and Hifumi over to the General Store. Apparently she knew a thing or two about a secret trapdoor with a code-locked door underneath it. 'Course, that Bud guy - the Distortion, I think - seemed to have the same idea, beating on the door with his hammer. Figured I'd do him a favor though, and we let him in on our secret, bringing him down there with us.
It wasn't worth it though. Found a buncha random supplies, but we couldn't get into the door. I've got a sneaking suspicion that that door connects with one of the laboratory doors though, but what does a Grade 9 fixer like me know?
![[Image: rolandnormal_uwrx9r.png]](https://res.cloudinary.com/douwhkm19/image/upload/v1733725563/Wild%20West%20KG/Talksprites/rolandnormal_uwrx9r.png)
After that... I just saddled up my horse back in my dorm, fed him a couple pork rinds, and tried to check out that Radio Tower out in the desert... Didn't have any luck though, something out there seemed to spook him, and he wouldn't go much further into the desert. Can't say I blame him though, kept seeing some kind of black shape out of the corner of my eye.
We just went back to the dorms, before we found out what it was. There's all sorts of monsters in the Outskirts, and I wasn't about to find out what they looked like. As we headed back, I stopped to talk to Deathborn along the way to see if he knew anything about Atua though. All I was able to get out of him though is that this game isn't Crimson Eye sanctioned - and that one of his bosses is stuck holding onto some "cursed slab".
![[Image: rolandugh_zzncwg.png]](https://res.cloudinary.com/douwhkm19/image/upload/v1733725229/Wild%20West%20KG/Talksprites/rolandugh_zzncwg.png)
Could've used a good night's sleep for once after all that... but when I got back to the dorms, I heard a bunch of banging and smashing from one of the other rooms - went on for a while too.
Not that the sounds of nighttime violence are much of a stranger to my ears, but would it kill you to keep it down...?
I'm not gonna lie to you though, if I put my instincts aside... something about these tunnels makes me want to dig deeper.
![[Image: rolandnormal_uwrx9r.png]](https://res.cloudinary.com/douwhkm19/image/upload/v1733725563/Wild%20West%20KG/Talksprites/rolandnormal_uwrx9r.png)

Could've used a good night's sleep for once after all that... but when I got back to the dorms, I heard a bunch of banging and smashing from one of the other rooms - went on for a while too.
Not that the sounds of nighttime violence are much of a stranger to my ears, but would it kill you to keep it down...?

Sorry friends it took so long for Nico to post~ Nico was too busy putting garba-- I mean flowers on our dunce doctor's grave♡
Hmm hmm....Did somebody die again? Don't worry - this time Super Idol Detective Nico is on the case~♪
Just look at me!
![[Image: urisPS2.png]](https://i.imgur.com/urisPS2.png)
Don't I look adorable in this outfit? It's perfect for solving this crime! I think it suits Nico very well, don't you agree?✰✰
Now let's get to the bottom of this~♪
Today in the morning after Nico's much needed beauty sleep I wanted to explore more of our colourful little town so I decide to finish the top part of town today with the Green and Purple buildings~♪
Nico first went to Newspaper to investigate any news articles that might have been present, such as if there was already an idol to represent the town or if any famous people have came here before Nico♡
Nico saw Hollywood Bowl in Tailor after and we both looked at wrestling costumes. Not Nico's cup of tea, but it was interesting to get a better perspective of the town's history✰
Then Nico went to Laundry and Tobaccconist and saw Derek Stiles leaving with all the cigars. Nico thought he can really smoke a lot (not that Nico would since it's the opposite of what a cute lil flower like me would do~♪)
Then Nico went to Law Office and Barber Shop. Nothing really interesting for Nico there~
As Nico was done exploring Green Building, Nico did not see Hollywood Bowl in Tailor anymore and made way to the Chapel
But! But!!
Something happened to our precious #1 Idol!!!
Some evil person hit Nico! Nico was knocked out for a while and discovered she had a Cigar in her pocket and Hoofprints in the Chapel
Nico felt nauseous and decided to head back to her room. Who would do such a cruel thing to someone as cute as me? Must be someone jealous of Nico's beauty~♡
Nico walked by Lynne back home, and soon saw Not Shane, Reginald Fikwerther, Tsavorae, Strong Bad, and Neil Marshall
![[Image: 7A9db7Y.png]](https://i.imgur.com/7A9db7Y.png)
Nico is a little annoyed still someone would put their hands on a lady. Whoever it was, show yourself to Nico!!
![[Image: OC30qh2.png]](https://i.imgur.com/OC30qh2.png)
It's OK though, Nico is doing fine. A cutie like me couldn't have commited such a disturbing crime and Nico needs to rest to heal from her ouchies. If the town needs more info Nico would be happy to share anything there is to help find the murderer~✰♪

Although.....Derek, you must've been around perhaps to put a cigar in my pocket hmm? This Nico doesn't let anything slip by her~♡
Summary:
Spoiler:
I want to examine the contents of the oven more closely.
Is there any residue of coarse dirt either stuck to the potatoes or present inside the oven, suggesting the potatoes had been buried and then unearthed recently?

Two deaths now, this Production is turning out less than ideal.
I decided to investigate the Radio Tower last night, at least in the capacity available to us. The Tower is too far out into the desert, but if it is broadcasting then I should be able to tune in to the broadcasts.
To that end, I requisitioned a Radio Receiver from the Military Post, and a Shotgun from the Gun Store, and went to the Telegraph Office.
Unfortunately the Shotgun was unable to breach the Door.
Access to the facility's Communication Networks would be a great help, so I hope to make progress there later.
Regardless, I spent the night tuning the Radio, listening for Signals.
Arrivals/Departures Log:
-> Lynne is leaving Locomotive
== Honoka is on Locomotive
<- [I enter Train Platform and attempt to breach the Telegraph Office door]
-> Strong Bad can't open the Telegraph Office door either and leaves.
<- Gyro Zeppeli enters Post Office
-- Neil Marshall passes West to East
-> Honoka leaves the Locomotive
<- Derek Stiles enters the Post Office
-> Gyro Zeppeli leaves the Post Office
-- Partitio Yellowil passes East to West
<- Neil Marshall returns and enters the Passenger Lounge
<- Agent Evangeline boards the Passenger Cars
== Neil Marshall boards the Locomotive
-- North Star passes West to East
== Derek Stiles leaves the Post Office
-> Agent Evangeline leaves to the North
-> Neil Marshall leaves to the North
== Derek Stiles boards the Locomotive
-> Derek Stiles leaves to the East
Ultimately I was able to make out broadcasts referring to a "Jabberwock Castle" and an "OCGA Central Facility", on some kind of loop, make of that what you will.

Oh, and whenever you've got a sec... How about we check out that Laboratory?. I still remember the code, I'll unlock it if I gotta.
Within the Vault, you find a staircase downstairs. You follow it down and enter... a large, metal laboratory. It's clearly a lot more modern than Silver Junction, built from the ground up for research and study. A door leads to the west, and another door leads to the south. Computers hum quietly.
You have discovered the Liturgic Research Laboratory.

Woah there, little chickadee! You've got more loud in ya than a festival barker! Didn't know such a little critter could bellow with that kind o' might…

But I can't go faultin' you none for puttin' your all into your work. You keep on workin', l'il Panimajesh. We've all got our jobs to do here, and I reckon my job right now's to give an account of what all I saw last night.
'Fore I get started, I'm mighty pleased to have a guard like you around, Ranger. Ya gotta introduce me to that Marty you're always quarrelin' with someday. He sounds like quite the character!
Anywho, been a spell since I've seen gusts like we had last night, so after springin' up I went on upstairs to grab myself a belt from the Tailor. Couldn't have my coat go flyin' off, could I? While I was pickin' through the clothes, I spotted the late Deputy Noise steppin' into the Barber Shop.
Made my way downstairs and into the street after that, runnin' into the Ranger just outside the Green Building. Reckon he can verify most of what goes on from here. Next thing I remember, Cascabela runs up 'n' flashes us. Yessir, she's an exceptional photographer, talkin' her subjects into lettin' her hit 'em with a flash from her camera like that. I know a journalist who'd do well with your kind o' skill at her side when we settle up matters here, Miss!
After havin' my picture taken, I crossed the street and moseyed into the Orange Building. Made my way into Mineral Storage to have a conversation with a certain someone. Momoyo and me, we had a productive chat for a spell. Frank. Honest. Don't agree with her supportin' Deathborn in all this no more than before, but… I reckon I know she's got her reasons now, and that's start enough for me.
Spotted Akira while we were havin' our talk. She ran on in from the Ruined Mine and scurried into the Century Agave dorms. Heard through the grapevine she had some kind o' tussle with Roland? Must've been that, judgin' from the way he came out of there.
Momoyo and me, we parted ways, and I went on to do my diggin'. 'Fore you go askin', no, I wasn't pluckin' any taters out from the ground.
My nails were good and caked with dirt when all was said and done, so I strolled down the street a ways. Happened to notice Elster pokin' round the Telegraph Office, then made my way into the Saloon, where I entered alongside the Ranger and Not Shane.
Spotted Reginald, Cascabela, and that Strong Bad inside, but any chance we'd have a repeat last night went out the window when a gunshot rang out upstairs. Went upstairs to investigate with Not Shane - mighty obliged for the company, there - and found a trail of blood stretchin' into the Gambling Parlor.

Couldn't do much about that sorry sight at that point. Thought I might take the edge off with a drink, so I went back for a swig. Neil was there, alongside King of Clubs, but the gunshot must've ran Reginald off.
After that… well, I hauled myself dorm-wards bound. Would be worth less than old company scrip if I went into detail. I was fortunate enough to have the pleasant company of Cascabela for a spells, about all there is to say.
