You carefully check his heart rate.

After a while, you nod, and declare that he has a pulse of 0 beats per minute.

As long as I'm still wearing this Doctor-y item, can I determine the angle of the gunshot wounds or whatever doctors do with bullets?
#24
Hifumi
- roland in film equipment
- partitio entering mining equipment
- walk in on hollywood bowls movie half done
- roland comes in to watch
- the bees don't give me any honey even though i said howdy :(
- spot cascabela entering the funeral home

I would like to send a telegram back home asking Bubs if he can come help investigate.

Is there any sign of Derek's gun having been fired? Both any evidence I can find from examining the gun itself, and pace around up and down town in the direction he would have been pointing to look for any stray bullets.

You look at Derek's gun.

Now, for full clarity, in this game, you can generally only investigate guns enough to determine that they have been fired or not fired by examining the gun. You can't get into ballistic markings (the fingerprints of a gun) or the like.

Anyway, to answer your question, Derek's gun has been fired.

Check the Water Tower for stray bullets or bullet holes as well for good measure, and just to be safe, let's also check the direction opposite to where Derek was facing and check the station buildings for bullet holes.
#29
Madame Zalsarona
If there's five bullet holes in him, can we try to dig out the bullets and check what kind of ammo/caliber/whatever gun stats we are dealing with?

You check the Water Tower for bullets or bullet holes, and find none of them.

You check the Red Building for bullet holes or bullets. You don't find any of them either.

Checking the direction opposite of Derek puts you at the train. Upon examination, there is a bullet hole in the outside of the Caboose.

You examine his bullet holes, for bullets.

The bullet hole in his left shoulder contains a sniper bullet.

The bullet holes in his side, left arm, and back all contain pistol bullets.

The bullet hole in his right eye goes clean through the back of his head. Whatever bullet this was did not stay in his body.

You examine the Caboose!

It's a caboose. It contains train equipment and a place for the crew to rest. It also appears to contain a pair of homemade beehives. Said beehives currently contain some bees.

Also examine the bullet hole in the caboose specifically.

Well now that you've singled it out I can do it. Gotta be clear.

You look into the bullet hole. It's not that deep, actually. Digging into it, you pull out a bullet that appears to be made of pure gold.

Compare the bullet in terms of size/caliber/species/however bullets are classified. Are we looking at the same weapon as the other bullets or a different one?

It looks like the golden bullet is a sniper bullet. You can't drill down beyond that with the knowledge and info you have in Silver Junction, but it would go into that kind of a gun.

Roland

As much as I'd like to try and get one right for once... Derek was a killer, and I've got bigger things to worry about this time. Hah... That radio tower out in the desert... I found something there alright. A secret that I'm sure our hosts don't want getting out. If you thought this ended with Deathborn and Momoyo... think again.

But... I'll get to things as they come. Guess you guys'll want the whole story anyway, huh? Beginning to end, as always. Well, as you can probably guess... everything started in my dorm.

...Can't really say the start of my night was very eventful. I saddled up on my horse and headed over to the blue building. Y'know, with all the film equipment and stuff. Wasn't quite sure what I'd need out there at the tower, so I grabbed some equipment. Floodlights, an audio recorder that Zalsarona wanted, a camera - ah, but that wasn't for the desert, had other plans in mind for that. Anyway, I saw Hifumi around the Soundstage, but I'm pretty sure that info's not too useful, yeah?

Someone said that there was some kinda secret in the theater, so I set up the camera in case someone was sneaking around. Wasn't lookin' for trouble, just thought it'd help me if I caught someone snooping around. If they found anything, I'd be able to check it out after without wasting a lotta time.

[Image: 389ebe4b-6a27-43bd-9034-9b9df6410c65.png]

Well, before I took two to the chest, Zalsarona and I were gonna head out to the desert, so we figured we'd reschedule for today.

Met her outside Mining Equipment with my horse, and we took off into the dark. Whatever was out in the desert before that spooked my horse, I'd spent enough time with him now to for him to get over it. That "dark figure" lurking around must've been busy anyway, didn't see anything except some bad winds. The resulting sandstorm was almost supernatural, but we powered through. So far... wasn't a bad night, all things considered. Things were really going our way.

...Well, that's what I thought, until I got there. Turns out, someone's been lying to us - like I said.

On the surface, the building didn't look like much. Small little station, tower reaching out the top to the sky. Plenty of these back in the City too, after all. Once we went inside though... Well, it was a newer building, that much stood out to me. Definitely not something from back when Silver Junction was new, back in Spencer's time. Seemed to me like Deathborn was using this place to communicate with Crimson Eye leadership.

Seemed like a lot of it was pre-recorded though, set to go off at set times. Guess Deathborn might've counted on his own death, and set this up so the Crimson Eye wouldn't interfere.

...Didn't try contacting them myself though. Got a feeling they wouldn't be particularly receptive either way. Instead, I took a look at some of the files, and that's what made my blood run cold.

Deathborn's collaborators, the ones behind this Killing Game... We thought this whole time it was just Momoyo acting as a backup, but we were wrong. There's been a third party, pulling the strings this entire time. That third party might even be the one sustaining Momoyo enough to keep her in her current state, despite the execution. We lynched Momoyo back then... thinking that that'd be the end of thing, but we were wrong the whole time.

Weren't we, Honoka?

That's right... No matter how innocent she acted, there's three of these bastards. Zalsarona can back me up on this. She's the third mastermind behind this whole operation. The daughter of Atua himself, the Liturgic entity that the Crimson Eye were researching in the first place.

...Well, there's no point dwelling on that now.

I'll wait for her to respond, to justify her role in all this. I've learned enough over the years to... give people a chance to explain themselves. Most back in the City wouldn't be so merciful. They'd take her head for whatever bounty it was worth. Haah... guess it's a good thing we killed the Bounty Hunter already, huh?

Either way... she's just as monstrous as the other two. Do whatever you want with her, I don't care anymore.

...We were pretty shaken by these finds - or at least I was. We headed back shortly after gathering some evidence of her involvement, and the ride back was less eventful than the ride there. We spit up after that, and I went to go share my findings with Evangeline. Bud, McJango, Akira, Hollywood Bowl, North Star, and... Honoka herself were all around the Plot, but I left them alone. Don't wanna get involved with anything she's involved with at this point.

Well, I found Evangeline leaving the General Store with Cascabela, and went over to have a talk. Turns out, the two of them were out exploring too, but I'll leave them to talk about whatever they found. Either way, Evangeline seemed pretty relieved that Hollywood Bowl wasn't involved at least. True enough, I guess. He's got more clout to his name than Honoka does.

Speaking of Hollywood Bowl though... he might've been innocent in the whole Killing Game ordeal, but I was curious to see if there was anything in his films that had any kinda clues anyway. I went to the Theater again, with two purposes in mind. First, I was gonna watch one of his movies to see what was up, Second, I was gonna do some exploring to see if I could figure out the secret of this place.

So, I put on Bathroom With A View, the first one of his movies I could find.

Haah... talk about a bore. The leading lady saw some kinda sniper shot from her window and went down this rabbit hole investigating the thing. Led to this whole conspiracy about the elites and a buncha shadow organizations... But that's that, and this is this. Maybe it woulda hit harder, if this wasn't just day-to-day life where I'm from.

I left the thing running for a bit and decided to investigate. Figured I wasn't missing much. I went up to the Executive Office first to see if there was any kind of secret passage that led behind the screen, but I couldn't find anything. I did someone running into the Desert Sage Dorm though, smoking like someone'd lit 'em up.

...Suppose that coulda' been Derek, assuming he was posing as that bastard who took potshots at me, huh?

Either way, I did the same thing in the Lobby - checked it for passages - before heading back into the Theater. Movie was wrapping up around now and Hifumi was messing around by the screen. She left pretty quick when she saw me, so I checked out the screen myself. Turns out... it just peels back on its own. Well, that would've saved me some time...

I took a look behind it, but it just seemed like empty space to me. There was something scribbled on the wall though. Some kinda passcode. I marked it down, but you can check it for yourself if you really want. After that... I just headed back to bed.

Well, that's about it. Everything I saw, everything I found.

Derek... Shame what happened to him, but if you ask me... even moreso than his killer, it's Honoka who needs to answer to justice's call. It might be Momoyo acting as her enforcer, but she's just as responsible as Deathborn himself.

That's... I have no idea what you're talking about! That's an absurd lie, I wouldn't ever do something like that! Come on!

Agent Evangeline
I trust Roland. What reason does he have to lie about this?

Honoka Kosakatua
Well, I wouldn't know! Maybe he just hates me for some reason? Does he have a grudge against idols? How has he been treating Akira or Nico?

Agent Evangeline
It sounds like to me like you're dodging the question. He says he has proof. What do you have?

Honoka Kosakatua
I... what proof? He could have faked it!

Hollywood Bowl
Actually, I think this explains something I was wondering about. See, you were the producer behind this, right? You picked Deathborn for this whole setup. Said it was because Silver Junction was a great choice to film on location. And then we get roped into a Killing Game. I was thinking it was just bad luck, but it feels like it'd be pat even for a movie setup, right?

But if you knew from the beginning the purposes of Silver Junction...

Honoka Kosakatua
That's-!

Agent Evangeline
And then there's motive. Deathborn never declared a motive beyond "evil." Momoyo's been remarkably recalcitrant about her motives too. But Silver Junction has SOMETHING to do with Atuaism.

And who here is the person more connected to it than anything else?

Honoka Kosakatua
I don't-!

Hollywood Bowl
Why don't you just fess up, huh? Explain everything now!

Honoka Kosakatua
I...

...

...

...If you look at the Killing Games, so many of them had a few different things running them. There's a face. A dramatic, bombastic personality that talks about how they manage the game. Directs people into breaking the norms, and convinces them to murder. Angie Yonaga, for instance, or Monokuma. For this game, we saw it. That was Deathborn.

There's an enforcer. Someone with the power to keep everyone in line and keep the system going. Gordon Ramsay, though he didn't want to admit it, was a pretty good example. Or look at The Producer. As we saw, in this game, that's Momoyo.

And then the brains. The person with the intelligence and motive to set up a killing game. Xavier Wexlyn would be the example I think of. The man who got me killed the first time.

In this game... that's me.

You got me, Roland. The Silver Junction Killing Game has always had three masterminds. The conspiracy between myself, Deathborn, and Momoyo was never meant to come out in public like this, but I'm out of ways to deny it.

I'll correct you on one point, though. This Killing Game is in no way a tribute to my deadbeat divine father. I would call it the opposite, in fact. ...Though I'm not going to go into any detail. I wouldn't be surprised if doing so risks far more than it gains. It's already gone off the rails - Deathborn and Momoyo were never meant to go down already. Frankly, I didn't even expect Momoyo to tap into her true form like she did, though it made my life a lot easier. I didn't want to have to reveal myself that early... and I can trust the centipede to keep everything running.

Momoyo Himemushi
Nooo problem, boss!

Honoka Kosakatua
For now... you really do have the death of the unfortunate Dr. Derek Stiles to investigate. The sun is ticking away in the sky, and the Killing Game won't stop for you to discuss my complicity.
