It does not. You could not reasonably fit the lighter inside the bottle itself.

Okay I would like to take a closer look at what's left of the suspected murder lantern, the lighter and the knife to see if there anything else I can learn from them myself.

I would also like to check the saloon in general to see if there's any non-obvious ways for a knife to have cut the string from the floor above.

I wanna put a bottle in one of those lanterns with the lighter again, but this time, let's use the string - or some cloth - to tie the lighter flush to the side of the bottle while its lit. Someone hang that lantern again, and let's just watch for a sec.

Does it burn and fall any slower? Does it fall on its own at all with the flame kept close to the bottle and away from the lantern's edge?

I'll cut the string eventually and let it fall too. Any evidence of what I tied it up with after it falls? In the case of the cloth, how burned is it compared to the cloth we found?

I would like to submit a check to see if anyone was on the roof of the yellow building and/or signs someone tried to climb the building.

Also, I want to take a closer look at the hole under the water tower.

You look at the knife. It sure is a knife. You look at the lighter and ashes, but you can't seem to pull any more information from them.

You look at the saloon in general, but the ceiling seems fully intact. You can't see any way a knife could have come from above.

You tie some string to wrap the lighter to the bottle, and you watch. It seems like if you attach the lighter with thread, you can leave it indefinitely, since you've moved the flame away from the paper enough to avoid ignition. The same applies with cloth.

If you drop it with thread, the thread is consumed in the resulting fire, leaving ashes. If you drop it with cloth, the same happens.

You end up with a disgusting sludge of melted plastic. You feel the judgemental gaze of Captain Planet upon your back.

There's a dent in the gutter above the north window in the Restaurant.

You look at the hole under the water tower. It's pretty shallow, and you're not sure why it's there. Doesn't seem like anything's in it.

You look at the knife. It's sunken in the mud. You can run some comparison tests, if you'd like.

Place the lanterns as they were before the kill took place (with the lantern with the bottle/lighter in above where Neil would have been) - and ask Honoka if this looks like it did when the decorations were initially placed (i.e. if the latern with the bottle/lighter in looks obviously different from the rest)

Looking at them together, a lantern with a lit lighter in it does not look visibly different from a lantern with a fake candle in it. Honoka nods.

You check outside the south window. There's no mud prints there.

You run your knife comparison tests. A successful throw from south to north leaves a similar imprint, as does throwing the knife straight down. Dropping the knife casually leaves a much lighter imprint, the knife visibly less deep in the mud.

You don't see any publicly visible CCTV cameras in the area of the water tower.

Make a print in the mud with the knife as above and then try to cover it up - does it look visibly different?

Does a print from the knife being thrown straight down and being thrown through the windows look any different?
