watched a really great lecture by Akala on eurocentric propaganda related to black history and african civilisation. it's lengthy but totally worth a listen, there's some very interesting findings that elucidated a lot of things for me. it focuses on british curriculum but i'm sure a lot of it's transferrable to US education too. i certainly remember being taught that ancient Egypt was a non-black civilisation (i even went a large part of my life thinking it was an Asian country) and that only in later life did i find that this was bogus, but i had no idea just how fundamentally incorrect this information was. kinda mindblowing how fickle/manipulative history is, and it makes me irritated that historical education is still so poor even today.
