Pokemon Go is neat although I have to go out of my way to find shit because I live in the middle of nowhere. But I went to the smoke shop earlier to cash in a lottery ticket for my dad and I found a Nidoran (female).

Post about your adventures in Go (if you're actually buying into this like I'm trying to). Post pictures of the Pidgey you caught in your backyard. Post about how you stole some gym from some loser little kid in your local area.

I downloaded it because it seemed like it would be fun as hell to just go hiking and see what Pokemon I could find. Unfortunately it seems to be broken on Nougat for the time being

I really love the idea though. Since the age of 7 or 8 I've always wanted virtual reality to be a thing so I could be a Pokemon trainer (and Batman, but that's beside the point)

This game is a small step, but it's really exciting to see my dreams becoming reality. Give it 10 years, figure out how to get haptic feedback perfected (a monumental task unfortunately), and maybe it'll be fully realized.

I haven't found a single fire Pokemon (aside from the starting Charmander I have). However, yesterday I found a decently buff Venonat near the rommunily center. I live out in the middle of nowhere, so I typically drive to the rommunily center (which has a Pokespot) and park there and walk around that and the cemetery right next to it (which also has a Pokespot I call "Martha" because it's a grave belonging to one Martha "Slocum" [through research I found that was her maiden name, but she was married] and a couple gyms guarded by fucking Eeveelutions). Martha's nice; she's given me quite a few eggs.

i'm having fun with it, currently at level 12 with a fairly solid lineup. i still need a good grass type and electric type, though

i wish they actually explained how the app worked, nobody knows how most of the features and elements actually work so all sorts of Zany misinformation is going around

How do I even play this game? I've been able to walk around and catch things but literally nothing else

There should be blue icons around which are Pokestops. You can walk up to them, click on them, and spin the coin to get some items. There are also gyms which you can walk up to and battle. Other than that, you've basically seen the whole game.

I live out in the middle of nowhere so I actually have to drive to certain areas to find Pokemon and Pokestops. I can understand not having gyms and Pokestops out in the middle of nowhere but it makes literally no sense to not have wild Pokemon. But yeah, you might really have to go out of your way to find Pokespots and gyms. Churches tend to be marked as Pokespots and/or gyms often.

So can you not go to secluded naturey areas to find Pokemon? That's most of the appeal for me

Pokemon appearance rates are based on cellular usage in the area, so cities are where most of them spawn, and none will spawn out in the woods.

I get why but it's also completely backwards from what you would expect.

Yeah they definitely need to fix that

Ideally the game will get a little more realistic as time goes on. The way it was advertised to me made it seem like I could get lost in the woods chasing a rare Pokemon, using my phone as a sort of window to another reality. That kind of shit seems fun.

WHOA while typing this post I did some googling and check this shit out

THIS is what I want. I mean obviously it could still be better (the Pokemon don't move around even if they're in midair) but this is miles ahead of the current app.

God what a fucking time to be alive. I'll probably get to play a fully realistic Pokemon simulator at some point in my lifetime, and that's incredible

VR has been a fever dream for so many years and now it's finally here, albeit in a stripped-down form but I'm so goddamn excited that people are actually working on it. Between that and life extension the future looks bright (fingers crossed)
