How come no-one posts news topics on forums any more

I remember back in the day News topics made up a fair amount of the content on MFGG, and I enjoyed the discussions they fostered. it was one of the few places where i could actually see a lot of differing viewpoints. I guess most people get their news content on fb now, but there you tend to only get a very narrow perspective because FB algorithms set up a sort of echo chamber that coddles your own worldview. nowadays posting news on forums is rarely done unless it's something like Trump getting elected. why did we stop doing this?

Probably because the world has become so divisive and people are incredibly quick label others for having the wrong opinion or not feeling a certain way. I don't think people are comfortable expressing themselves anymore lest they say something that gets misconstrued and they get thrown to the wolves.

i think this is definitely on the money, and I'm becoming aware of how I probably have played a big part in creating this kind of environment on MW. the left's project of reducing public discussion to the width of a tightrope has given us nothing but a Pepsi commercial.
