Planning on doing a server upgrade sometime in the morning (Pacific) next Sunday.
Should take around 2 hours. We have Linode's backups thanks to Draku so there should be minimal risk, and backups will be taken before anything happens.
Basically we run CentOS 7 right now, which ended active support sometime in 2020- it's OK because it still has security support, but it's in the phase where you should be planning on moving to something else. https://endoflife.date/centos
Unfortunately due to RedHat deciding to change what CentOS is, CentOS 8 is already end of life. Fortunately an equivalent for what CentOS used to be exists with Rocky Linux, so that seems like the most sensible and least risky thing to update to. https://endoflife.date/rocky-linux
I've been doing work on getting automated server setup scripts working, which currently can build me a development environment to test this stuff out on, and it all looks great. So the next step is to get this on the Real server, which as a bonus will also get us to the point where we have an automated server setup script in case of disaster.
Figured it'd be good to put a warning out. Not committing to any exact time though, sorry.
