DAY 2 - Silence of the Noise
(Feb 2, 2025 at 1:47 AM)Roland Wrote:Carpentry has a few wood-boring tools there, though none of them seem to be missing. Mining Equipment has a small tool for poking in crevices, but those are all there too. The Restaurant has meat thermometers, those would work. There's not really anything that matches in the General Store.
Hah... we're getting nowhere with this. Maybe we should stop focusing on the scene for a sec and throw a wider net.
Let's check out Carpentry and Mining Equipment. Do they have any tools that could match our wound? How about the Restaurant or the General Store?
Are any of the livestock missing? Anything out of place in the pen in general?
Uh... how about the other two rooms upstairs in the yellow building? Any sign of a weapon that coulda' been hastily ditched?
And... we checked The Noise's room too, but what about Pohatu's? Anything out of place? Maybe in his bedside table?
While we're at it, let's take a look at the damage in Turb's. Check inside his bedside table too, why not?
The livestock look to be in good shape and normal, though when you look around the pen, you find a pile of hay that is concealing the broken remains of a salt lick, along with the tarp. Also, one of the cows looks oddly sad.
You give the Brewery and Hotel a strong once-over, but find no weapons lying around.
You check Pohatu's dorm area. His pillowcase is missing, but otherwise nothing is odd.
You look at the damage. Turb's bed has been repeatedly cut and smashed, and the nightstand has 1873 carved into it in big letters.

(Feb 2, 2025 at 2:02 AM)Ranger Wrote: Check the windows on the second floor of the orange building. Do any of 'em match the marks in the yellow building? You check the windows. You find the same marks as by the Gambling Parlor window - they are up by the Funeral Home's window, leading up to the roof. There's also an additional large dent at the lip of the building's roof, right above the Funeral Home's window.
Let's just do a mass face check alright?
I grab a ladder and carry it upstairs. Does it stretch from the Funeral Home window to the Gambling parlor window? If dropped, would it make a similar dent in the roof? Could I walk across it like a bridge?
Also I consent to having my face checked.
Also I consent to having my face checked.
A sudden epiphany has you re-investigate the area below the Gambling Parlor window. Right in front of the entrance to the Century Agave Dorm is a smashed pile of urns with rope around them. You're really not sure how you missed that before.
Roland: Clean
Kroos: Clean
Zalsarona: Clean
Marisa: Clean
Lynne: Clean
Akira: Clean
Partitio: Clean
Marisa: Clean
Tsavorae: Clean
Ranger: Clean
Additionally, all living NPCs have consented to face checks, and are clean in that department too.
You pick it up and drop it on the roof edge. It does not make a similar dent.

It looks like it could reach from one to the other, and you're able to lean it all the way. However, when you attempt to make a bridge with it, the wind renders it too unsteady and it falls to the ground below.
You pick it up and drop it on the roof edge. It does not make a similar dent.

Just to make sure, are there any markings 'round the windows in the purple, blue, or green buildings?
Try piecing back together one the urns. Get impatient and annoyed piecing together the urns and make one of the NPCs finish it for me. How big and heavy are they, and with the volume of fragments how many urns would there have been? Are they big enough to fit the bag of flour we found in the Saloon, our of curiousity?
I do a quick run through of the following places to see if I can identify where the urns could have come from: Funeral home, Blacksmith, Mines, Cemetery.
If I find a complete urn (or some large enough pieces to assemble back into a complete urn), does it look as though it'd match the dent in the roof?

She does with no small amount of grumbling.
They're about five pounds each, and they're not that big - they're cremation urns. The volume of fragments amounts to about three urns.

The complete urn doesn't look like it'd match.

Right, testimony time. Sorry I'm getting this out a little later than I should have, I think the realization of our situation may be sitting in...I'll try to do better next time.
![[Image: lynnenormal.png]](https://i.postimg.cc/vTZPc5rr/lynnenormal.png)
I started my night by immediately heading out of the dorms, seeing Partitio and Ranger both head to orange. I went straight over to the graveyard to try to swipe Jessica's key. I figured someone else would beat me to it, and they did, but hey, it was worth a shot! Oh, and King of Clubs and Marisa were both around the area.
Since I was over here, I went ahead to take a look at the locomotive, joining Honoka in taking a look at it, but unfortunately, I don't think we have the right parts around. I didn't really get much done here, and soon I jumped off as Elster's telegraph office adventure began, hearing a gunshot somewhere behind me...
![[Image: lynneconfident.png]](https://i.postimg.cc/j2cG1sXX/lynneconfident.png)
Not my problem, it was off to orange! First up, I entered via carpentry to make a chair just to send it off into the wind. I just thought it would be fun, ok? McJango came downstairs shortly after my arrival and started his own project - crafty little guy! Gyro came down after a while and went south, and soon enough I finished the chair and set it out on it's journey. After that I headed up into the target range for a bit to practice. So if you heard any gunfire up there, it was probably me. Sorry about that! I finished up around the time Tsavorae came in, and as I was leaving...
![[Image: lynneoverwhelmed.png]](https://i.postimg.cc/0jXVmrnL/lynneoverwhelmed.png)
...a very loud gunshot rang out! What was THAT about?!
![[Image: lynnenormal.png]](https://i.postimg.cc/vTZPc5rr/lynnenormal.png)
After waiting a few moments, I headed downstairs to leave, noticing that McJango was still hard at work. As I left and made the walk all the way to purple, I saw Mizzlebip and the black horse head to the stable from green, while Akira left the green dorms and went to blue. Inside purple, Bud was trying to break down the trapdoor in the general store. Not sure if he succeeded, but hey, great effort, Bud! I went upstairs to look around the mayor's office and then the hallway to see if I could find something interesting. Once I was done snooping around, I went back downstairs to leave, and noted that Bud had left while I was up there.
After that, I went back home to green to end my night. Cascabela went to the bank, while I caught up with Evangeline and went to the chapel with her. We had another talk, and I went to bed.

That'll about do it! I don't think I really saw anything related to the crime, but do let me know if there's anything I need to check later!
Another Strong Bad account, another Strong Bad account song!~!
I started my day relatively uncrapfully. I headed over to the Army Post to see if I could find anything cooler to add to my sick bandito outfit, and I saw Tsavorae in the main room with me, and North Star goin' up the stairs.
I wanted to see if the Telegraph Office had a way for me to check emails, or at least telegraphs, which are like emails for nerds, and Elster was jibblin' around with a Radio. I tried to get in the office but it was locked and- what the crap? A chair flies by, flying in the westerly winds...
With no emails to check nor Homestar Runners to punch, I decided it was time for my classic beverage of choice, a Cold One. Of course, that means going to the Saloon. I saw a lot of people here, like Cascabela, Kroos the Keen, Glint, and Bud. North Star rolled on through, and then I grabbed my Cold One from the bar, saw Kroos and Bud come back downstairs, and the Noise go upstairs. I sat with Reggie and Cascabela, nursing my now Slightly Less Cooled One. Then boom, bloodcurdling screams from upstairs! Gunshots galore!
The Ranger and Partito come in, presumably to do sherrifly things about the gunshots. Then more freakin' people come in. Do I really gotta bold all of them? I was getting pretty toasted off my Cold Ones at this point, if you need to know if I saw more than this, just ask me, I guess. I'm sick of writing this freakin' account. The last thing that I care about happening was our little game of Poker Night at the Inventory which I totally did not bust and lose first at. I played with Not Shane, Reginald, Neil, and Tsavorae.

Unfortunately, I don't think my night will be all that useful to you. However, if it helps at all, that's what matters.
I woke up and went for the Cemetery early in the night. Spoke to Roland. He's got a good head on his shoulders, and if anyone will be a help in uncovering the truth here, I think it'll be him. After that was done, my next destination was north. I went to the Blue Building, and spent a short period of time in the theater. I was moderately curious to see if the films on play were in any way relevant... but they weren't. Somewhat unfortunate.
Heading south by the Water Tower, Honoka was beginning to tend to the Livestock. I overheard radio tuning, and hid myself behind the building to listen in. Did not hear anything of note, but it's a good concept for an investigation. Looped around the west side of the building and searched the passenger cars. People have focused on the locomotive, but the train has a larger consist than that.
After my search there was finished, I went to the Stable. There, I attempted to befriend the White Horse. Results were inconclusive. After that, met Lynne in the Chapel. She also has a good head on her shoulders. Then I returned to sleep.

The description of the gambling parlor says it is full of smoke. I want to search thoroughly through the smoke. Is it congregating in areas, like the ceiling? Is it thick enough to hide anything in there?

Is it congregating in areas, like the ceiling? Is it thick enough to hide anything in there? You search the Gambling Parlor again. You find that the smoke is largely artificial and rises to the ceiling, being generated by a couple incense burners. Looks like it's to create the old-fashioned cigar smoke atmosphere without needing everyone to actually smoke. It doesn't seem like the smoke, itself, hides things, but during this search, you notice one of the potted plants has been moved from its original location.
In what way does the plant look like it was moved? Does it look disturbed? Can I look through the soil/examine leaves/turn it upside down/etc.
Also check for where the plant was located originally.

You don't see anything where it was originally.
Also check for where the plant was located originally.
You start going through the plant, but you don't find anything of note. You move the plant back, and in the process, find that behind it is a paper spike. One of those things you can stick receipts or notes onto. This is mostly notable for it being covered in blood.
