DAY 3 - The Lantern, the Witch, and the Crimson Eye

I compare the wound on Tsavorae's head to the following things:

- The butt of a gun (pistol, shotgun, rifle)
- A shovel handle or a shovel tip
- A pickaxe handle
- A knife handle

Are there any matches?

You show off your bruise. No, that doesn't really match Marisa's.

You compare Tsavorae's head to all of those, and find that the answer is no, they do not match.

Can we grab some more mining hooks and rope, the same stuff the field's fencing is made out of, then grab a fresh empty coffin toss a person inside for weight and use the hooks and rope to drag said coffin across some of the desert and then compare that to the existing trail?

Still insistent on forcin' us to play this wicked game? Hardly see the point, but I s'pose if a testimony's demanded of me, I'll deliver.

-- Marshall's Night 2 --

Started off my night by headin' towards the General Store. Me and Mr. Yellowil, y'see, we had a plan to coordinate what we were wearin' to be identifiable durin' the night. I also wanted to get a gift for the birthday lady. While I was in there, the birthday lady herself, Miz Akira, was headin' into the Sheriff's Office. Eventually, I settled on grabbin' her some pearl earrings before continuin' on with my business.

I visited the Mayor's Office, where Not Shane was already shiftin' around. I decided to do some diggin', and I've found some documents we might find interestin'.

First, I looked into "Phoenix & Tucson", a company responsible for that train track runnin' along town. Turns out, the names refer to the Arizona cities, and the company was buildin' a connection between them in 1870. Silver Junction was too out of the way to be part of the throughline, but they built this direction regardless because of the silver here. But in 1873, letters were sent in from the folks 'round here, requested the train service here be stopped. Number of important fellas, like the mayor and... Spencer Edwards.

Then, I happened upon a document detailin' how Silver Junction was once attacked by the "Buck-Eye Gang". Their leader, Billy Buck-Eye, believed there was a treasure worth a fortune buried somewhere beneath the city. They didn't get too far searchin' before they got apprehended, but it's got me thinkin'... Is it too on-the-nose to have another eye-named group of ruffians searchin' for somethin' in Silver Junction? Might be why Deathborn hired someone renowned for diggin' as his accomplice. Might've had an interest in seein' if he could find whatever the goody was.

Have both documents on hand, if anyone's needin' them in the future.

Anyway, by the time I was done with my light readin', Not Shane was already gone. I stepped out to do a quick glance of the Courtroom, passin' by Miz Kroos. Nothin' nearly as interestin' there, so I went downstairs and left for the Blue Building to meet with Hollywood Bowl. I saw Miz Cascabela outside as I made my way over.

Hollywood Bowl offered to screen his film, and I obliged. Figured a good flick would help put the troubled mind at ease. We got to chattin' during the movie, and I learned that it was supposedly Honoka that picked Silver Junction as our filmin' spot. Wonder how much influence Deathborn had on her choice... Regardless, the film finished up, and then the Ranger moseyed on in and started chattin' with the big man. Figured that was my cue, so I made my leave.

Next stop was the horse stables. Their caretaker has... gone and left, for lack of better phrasin', so someone's got to keep care of the unclaimed horses. While I was heading along, I saw Nico runnin' towards the south, and Not Shane pullin' a cuffed-up McJango with him to the west. At the stables, I gave the Red Horse and White their feed and water, which they seemed mighty appreciative of. Noticed some strange black gunk in some of the feed, though. Hopin' you folks ain't givin' that to your horses. As I was leavin', I saw Miz Mizzlebip returnin' with her Black Horse.

Finally, I arrived to celebrate the birthday gal, which... well, you've seen the sealed-off saloon. There were five of them outside - Reginald, Lynne, Honoka, Ace Ventura, and of course, Miz Akira herself. I offered her the pearl earrin' gift, and joined in on their card game. Strong Bad showed up and joined in too. Eventually, though, I was gettin' tuckered out, so I went back to my bunk.

Mysteries are really startin' to pile up 'round here. Three murders, includin' the mastermind, and all of this history with Spencer Edwards and Buck-Eyes and what-have-you. For now, though, just one question from this desperado.

What the devil is an "esotera"?

You compare Tsavorae's head to all of those, and find that the answer is no, they do not match.

Would it be possible to get a size/shape comparison for all of these things? Like, do they not match because they're too wide, too narrow, too oblong, etc.

Also, check the wire in the film equipment explodey trap setup. Follow it and see where it goes.

Investigate the state of the Livestock Corral for anything suspicious. Also do a headcount on the animals. Are any missing?

...Well, when all else fails...

I'd like to prop The Noise against the fence of the Livestock Pen and hop on the bull. It's probably a bumpy ride, but I'll ram the bull into The Noise and then hop off and inspect the damage. Does this look like what happened to Tsavorae?

You hook up a coffin like this, tossing Cascabela inside as she yelps. Dragging the coffin, you can tell that the trail you leave is the right width to match the existing trail you found. However, it's much clearer and sharper than the trail leading north of the dorm.

Sure. The bruise against Tsavorae's head looks wide and flat, like whatever hit her was a single surface that had equal weight. All of the aforementioned handle tests result in a bruise that's got much more of a defined center.

You check the wire. It seems like it was tied at the north entrance of the Film Equipment room, then runs down and loops around a box near the south wall of the room. The wire then runs towards the burnt boxes, before ending in a burnt stump.

You check the Livestock Corral. All the animals are here. The ox looks a little tired, though.

You do this whole thing. This is definitely not it - the impact severely damages the Noise's torso, Tsavorae is far less beat up than this would cause.

No, it looks about the same as the trail you just created.

You whack the Noise with the lid. This looks closer, but there's still an unevenness over the curve of the forehead that means it doesn't match.

You scour the entirity of the Purple Building's ground floor.

The General Store does not have missing floorboards. Neither do the other three rooms; the dorms are just built on dirt, while the other two are fine.

However, upon a careful ground examination, you find a tunnel below the Noise's bed.

Strong Bad
Today I carry out my super genius Strong Bad plan to bully Homestar Runner from the desert. I go to the Army Post and get a flamethrower. Then I head over to the Blacksmith, where Bud is busy hammering, and I grab a bucket and face mask, then melt down a gold ingot into the crucible.
I scurry to the Telegraph Office and see the Ranger playing his weird bad guitar in the locomotive.
Elster is breaking the Office wall, so I tell her to stop and observe my genius.
I heat the lock with the flamethrower and use the molten gold to create a key, being careful with the water bucket so it doesn't just drop molten metal into the desert sand.
We use my new key to get inside, where Elster rummages through old telegrams, and I send Homestar a telegram calling him a dweeb.

With my mission accomplished, I want to return all the items I used. I return the tools to the Blacksmith- Bud is still here hammering.
I head to the purple building to go to the Army Post, where I see Shane carrying McJango, then I return the flamethrower to its rightful place. As I leave, I see an unidentified figure dragging a coffin away from the north entrance. The Ranger enters the Army Post as I go to the Saloon.
I get dealt in and play cards with Akira Kogami, Honoka Kosakatua, Reginald Fikwerther, Lynne, Neil Marshall, and Ace Ventura.
After cards I am le tired, so I go to my dorm and see a weird sign saying 'toot and poop tomorrow evening bring newspaper. '

It looks like the wound was made by the butt of a pistol, specifically.

Not Shane
quick discord testimony. my names not shane kid

Quote:- Wake up, run to sheriffโ€™s office and check the reward money on McJangoโ€™s wanted poster clearly says โ€œ$50.00โ€ as it should
- Head up to the Mayorโ€™s Office to look for money / lore โ€“ spot Nico cutting through and then Neil. No money but found letters which note that Silver Junction was removed as a stagecoach stop in January 1873 at the mayorโ€™s request. Hmm!
- Head over to Green and spot Ace Ventura heading for Laundry. Go into the Law Office and yet again find no money so open up my mailbag and rummage through Christmas cards.
- Look for cigars in tobacconist but again nothing. Grab and light up a cigarette.
- Try to get into the Saloon, fail.
- Head back to Sheriffโ€™s Offfice. Find Tsavoraeโ€™s gag rifle. Find cuffs for McJ and work on a new wanted poster.
- McJango comes in, Tsavorae fails to apprehend but this is why I became the sheriff. I sprint out after McJ, take him down and drag him in for questioning, past team Roland/Zalsarona/Evangeline leaving the bank. Also King of Clubs is heading east.
- Back in Sheriffโ€™s office, Tsavorae is gone. I interrogate McJ and he tells me that he set up a camera in the Mineral Storage on N2 and that he hasnโ€™t found any lore! During this Derek Stiles (wanted criminal) comes in to grab a gun.
- I let McJ go free but tell him that his days of crime are overโ€ฆ or else.
- I head up to the courtroom and look for lore. I find some court docs.
- Head over to Blue passing Zalsarona and Hifumi, spot Hollywood bowl exiting theatre.
- We chat and spot Deathborn coming upstairs. He enters film equipment and dies peacefully of flame damage. HB grabs a fire extinguisher and I just sorta decide to leave him to it.
- Back to sheriffโ€™s office. I decide to check here for lore or any secret passages. I read some lore from the previous sheriff who advises that he doesnโ€™t trust the church after what happened with his deputies. I think we are kindred spirits.
- I go to bed.

Let's look at that Texas Red wanted poster closer... doesn't he look a bit familiar?
