Can I reveal the Barracks journal and read it?

It can be posted after the case, that's fine.

You lick the sign paint. It tastes like white paint from Carpentry.

…no, that ain't my place now. What's done is done, and I ain't proud of it - least of all draggin' Ranger into all this. Ranger… you… You buck up as best you can, y'hear? You… You still got the real Texas Red to put in the ground, you 'n' that Marty feller. You got a heart in you bigger than any iron at your hip, and without those darned hats 'round, you can nail him.

To the rest of y'all, I ain't gonna plead forgiveness for takin' your friend. There aren't words enough in a box-truck full o' dictionaries to set any of this right.

Just… I know it don't ease the pain, none, and I ain't the mouth you'd best appreciate this message from, but… don't y'all go forgettin' what Mayor Bud stood for. All that happened… it don't mean I didn't believe in his stance. Carin' for the bees, bringin' this town back to a state o' life, Bud was bringin' in a force even ol' Atua can't kill once it's shored up - community.

Used to be that an executioner would grant one last request. I reckon if I got one, it's that this town don't let Mayor Bud's ideals die with him.

Cascabela, I tip my hat your way one last time, Ms. Mighty pleased to have dined with you. Momoyo, you got the strength to bust yourself out of the chains other folks are always tryin' to wrap you in, and my heart don't harbor a lick of doubt you'll go on to shake the earth when you're free at last. Miss Akira… Recipe's in the kitchen, if'n you ever have a fix for stew again.

I'm settled up now. Time for me to quit yappin' and take the whippin' that's comin'. Do what y'all will.

You read the journal.

It was a personal log kept by one of the Union soldiers, and left behind in the barracks forgotten, preventing its redaction. It's a more detailed account of the original Silver Junction Killing Game, and it talks about how at the climax of the Killing Game, a massive, golden figure had appeared, summoned by Spencer Edwards with the growing chaos of the Killing Game. The figure had taken to the field, as Atua has in this game, and provided enforcement of the rules, execution of the victims, and whatever else was necessary to ensure the game continued as it had.

The Union had realized that the longer the game went on, and the more fervent the worship, the more the figure grew in strength, seeming to take heart from both aspects almost equally. This had made them realize that it was time to storm the game and ensure it didn't reach the intended conclusion. The final entry is the day of the assault - the soldiers had a plan, involving use of occultic weaponry and how to deal with the fervent cultists.

It seems like this particular soldier never picked up his diary, as the results of the attack are not mentioned.
