DESCRIPTION AND PROPERTIES OF OBJECT

The subject, referred to historically as the Despair's Wish Diamond, is a large, pitch-black jewel about 12.4cm tall, with a diameter of around 6cm. The surface of the jewel is ridged in such a way that light passing through it causes a disorienting effect when viewed, a feature that has since been replicated in lenses to induce hallucinations and false memories. [See EXPERIMENT LOG 53: FLASHBACK LIGHT INITIAL TESTING.] Also observed is the tendency of the Despair's Wish to bestow strange and disturbing visions, often in the form of revelations about the nature of reality, which is currently an phenomenon likely tied to [REDACTED].

The jewel also emits a low, ordinarily inaudible hum, not dissimilar from the product of cosmic radiation known as "static" that frequently plagues audiovisual broadcasting frequencies. No physical origin for this phenomenon can be determined [See section: EXTRAPLANAR PROPERTIES], although long term exposure to this sound is known to induce violent tendencies and murderous intent, without the loss of mental faculties associated with substances that produce similar effects.

The most worthwhile feature of the Despair's Wish however, appears to be its unique properties as a seemingly unlimited energy source and inexplicable molecular composition that allows for it to act as an immensely powerful processing unit not unlike the human brain, though lacking in anything resembling thought or independent function, instead allowing for its energy to be "channeled" and even given physical form through the intentions of anyone in possession of it, a position which will hereby be referred to as SUBJECT 07-A. When utilized in this form, the energy of the Despair's Wish appears to cause abnormal effects in the fabric of reality. Further research is required.

Digital instructions can also fill the role of SUBJECT 07-A and experiments have been performed in regards to the construction of an AI capable of tapping into these energy stores to essentially create an infinite, self-regulated, usable battery [See: PROJECT TERROR]. These experiments were universally declared a failure after the resulting AI universally possessed malevolent and destructive intent.

NOTE: What did you idiots expect, naming the thing Project Terror and throwing it into that particular VR simulation? Look, I'm well aware that Killing Games have tested overall as the best way to educate a virtual personality in problem solving and creativity, but you couldn't have picked a lineup of test subjects that didn't consist of urine fetishists, cyborg ninjas, and a fucking self-inflicted-amputee? - Executive Director X. Wexlyn

Despite description of its abilities as unique, the Despair's Wish is likely not the only object of its kind. Stories of similar relics have persisted in many cultures around the world, and notably, a specimen was allegedly located in the [REDACTED] Archipelago by a research team unaffiliated with XW System Works Ltd., yet no other info exists on the subject.

As of this document's writing, the Despair's Wish is currently missing after the collapse of Project Terror. It is believed to still be somewhere in the Minus Penninsula, likely hidden by a dissenting staff member within one of the several company-owned XW Media Group studios that dot the forest landscape
