Is MLP even still airing? It seems like the hype over it has died way down but that could just me getting good at avoiding it.

Unfortunately, MLP got more than one season (like how SpongeBob got more than one). The series has gone dramatically downhill, to the point where the most recent season only had 6 enjoyable episodes. And a 7th season has already been announced.

That said, the fanfiction community is still quite vast, and 10 times out of 10, the peak quality of fanfiction transcends that of the source material. Even new Fallout: Equestria (the epitome of human literature imo, as I have asserted in the past) stories are still written at least twice most weeks.

i'm honestly just surprised that of all the things to get overrun with a slurry of gross fucks, it was the horse cartoon made to sell toys. it's not even like what happened with warhammer 40k (iirc) where neo-nazis interpreted the satire making fun of them as something agreeing with supporting their dumb bullshit, because there isn't even any satire of that in horse world; it was just cartoon horses talking about friendship and happiness. how did that attract such a vile demographic
