I can empathize with that. What I dislike is gory movies but if the movie has a good story I'll watch it anyway.

Oh and jumpscares blow.

I wouldn't call slasher gore-fests or jumpscare-spam spooky horror. Spooky horror has an eerie atmosphere with a good creepy story that makes you question just what it is you're seeing. You're not scared stupid, but you feel like shit is crawling up your spine and you never really feel comfortable.

It's a punishment if you're not a brony.

I think the most recent one I've seen was the Ouija prequel. I actually really enjoyed it, it was far better than the first one.

That said, it still fell into your classic Contemporary Horror tropes, so there's room for criticism. But there were some genuinely fun scares, the ending was smart enough, and I applaud the movie for not relying on jump scares. I'd say give it a watch.

As stated, Get Out is next on my list, though I want to finish watching Hannibal (the series) first.
