Figured we should just have a thread for this I guess?
Getting in touch with developers, reporting bugs privately, and a lot of behind the scenes planning can happen here (for better or worse).
Slack is basically a chat designed for companies, a lot of its inspiration is from IRC, and if you're familiar with Discord, Discord took a lot of inspiration from it for its UI. They offer a free plan so we're using it for now and the foreseeable future.
The link to it is here: https://minusworld.slack.com/
BUT!!! One flaw with Slack is that it's limited to an invite-only system. So you'll need to request an invite. Anyone who is a member can send an invite, and currently all of minus world staff are members, as well as a few others. What we need to invite you is your email address, so send that over to anyone you feel comfortable asking to invite you and they'll most likely hook you up.
Once you set your account up you can head to that URL from them on to log in and use the chat. There's also desktop and mobile applications, though the desktop one isn't much different from the website.
One feature I just set up was The IRC Gateway. If you have an account, there's more information for connecting to slack using your favorite IRC client over here: https://minusworld.slack.com/account/gateways. There's also an XMPP gateway I could turn on for it if you want to connect with pidgin or something but I haven't activated it; let me know if there's interest in that and I can turn that on.
You can argue about why we bother using slack here too.
