Returning to the Lobby, you see that Phenera's body is long gone. You decide to check the Morgue instead, finding Phenera's corpse in one of the body lockers. Pulling it out, you take the Scrying Glass from her body and peer into its smooth, black surface.

You see Pea, walking down the streets of the Residential District, sipping on a beer. Someone jumps out from behind him and smacks him on the back of the head with something long. He crumples to the ground, and the vision fades...

Well, that was... productive?

Comparing to Pea's head wound...
Does a bottle of vodka, a bottle of wine, the flat end of Pegasus' magic sword, a tree branch of some description, a meat mallet, or a shovel match?

Comparing a regular bottle of both vodka and wine, neither seem to match the wound, it doesn't seem to have such a largely uniform shape. The flat end of Pegasus' sword is maybe a bit closer, but fails for the ame reason. The tree branch is closer than both, but even more strangely shaped than the wound. The meat mallet and shovel are nowhere close.

None of the bodies match, do they? Not sure how you'd swing one of those around.
And compare Indy's chair to the wound. Any of the other furniture/cutlery down here, too.

Oh, and check out every single house in the Residential District for anything amiss. And the Occultic Seal room.
Arcana Lab, Water Filtration, Mining Equipment, Drafting Office...
And the Underground Lakefront. In fact, drain it for a minute so we can search the bottom of the lake properly.

Check the Comms Room and the Backup Terminal Room for anything amiss, or anything new that's been stashed there.

Also check the two anomaly containment rooms in the district.

Examining one of the mummified bodies, you take one look at it and shake your head. There's no way this is remotely close to the wound. Upon investigating them, you also don't think Indy's chair or any of the other stone furniture or cutlery could have caused that wound. It seems like most of the furniture is the wrong shape unless at a near impossible angle, and all of the cutlery is too small.

None of the houses in the Residential District appear to have anything out of the ordinary about them, besides the missing bodies. One house, closest to the mines, shows signs of being slept in though. The district housing the Occultic Seal - and the tower containing the Seal Chamber itself, have no signs of being touched in the past while. The Arcana Lab and Water Filtration are both just as devoid of anything of note that would indicate something was taken from here.

Within Water Filtration, you drain the Submerged District - the water rushing out with a rumble. You climb down the many flights of slippery stairs into the underground lake and look around the bottom floor. Several skeletons appear to be lying around the massive pipe this time, all glowing with the same color of the Submerged District itself. You check a few of the houses down here, noticing that one of them appears to have a dagger-shaped absence in the glowing lichen coating it's table. Exiting, you walk through the pipe and towards the thick grate blocking the rest of the way as a warm air billows out from beyond it, smelling of electricity. Nothing that could cause the wound in here either though. That's about it though for down here, so you hurry up before the lake refills.

Finally, you check Mining Equipment and the Drafting Office. Mining Equipment has been blown to pieces, with several twisted machinery parts lying around. You suppose some of these would... Maybe be sort of close if you squinted, as would like, the transmission from an excavator or something. You can't tell if anything was taken from here. The Drafting Office doesn't seem to have anything that could cause the wound either unless someone used the CNC Machine.

Anything stashed in the wreckage of the Mining Elevator?
What about the Director's Office? Or his not-so-secret office?
Can we tell if anything has been tossed into any of the Sunken rooms? What was once Lab Zero should have traces of something at minimum.

Anything off in the Boathouse?
Oh, and look through every dead person's dorm, especially Pea himself.

Spoiler:

Giffany... you monster. How could you side with him? We were so close to an answer, to finding a way out of this mess without any more bloodshed!

Fine. If that's how we're gonna play, then so be it.

Tonight was straight to the Orange Zone, because when is it not? The Rubber Duck was running towards the Armory, with Nancy and 23 exiting shortly after. Nancy had her tactical gear on, and 23 made some modifications to his gun. I think he had a machete as well. I filled them in on my plan, which they agreed to readily and went on their way. With my special plan, we were going to be unstoppable.

I made my way into Counter-Terrorism to make some additional perorations, namely handcuffs to lock down whoever decided to make for the Chaotic Seal. Mr. Blobby decided to interrupt me, and using his gelatinous form, he managed to punk me out and grab something from off the table. I spent a few minutes on my ass, but I got up pretty quick. It was onto the Service Elevator next, being one of the few ways into the sub-basement that isn't broken right now. The Observation Room was empty, and the Lost City Outpost should have been as well except for that... thing. It looked like a skinless man, and he was huge. We locked eyes, I tried to back away from him without making a scene, which worked for the most part.

Thanks to Nyarlethotep, the Mound of Bodies was out and about, and it caught me out pretty quickly. I've read the file for this thing, I thought I was prepared to take it on until it started throwing corpses at me (it shouldn't be able to do that). First was a mummy. I decided to start running since it kept slinging bodies at me, one of which was extremely and freshly bloodied. I was using the houses around the area to bob and weave through its assault, during which Dexter came down from the Outpost. He ripped a shot at the Mound, but it didn't help much. Sensing that this was a losing battle, I used a Capture Pod on it to save us both.

We linked up and noticed that one of the bodies the Creature threw at us... it was Pea.

I tried my best to calm Dex down, but I had to get to the Seal room fast, or else we were going to have bigger problems than the Mound.

Spoiler:

Nashu got to the Seal before I did. She was armed with the Zweihander the Pegasus dug up last week, as well as a pair of shackles. I called out to her, yelling that she'll never have the Seal as long as I live. Revealing my Dragon of Dojima tattoo, we charged one another. We rumbled for a bit, but it's clear she used the Hunter Style to counter my Dragon Style, and she nearly cut me in half with a wild uppercut swing, sending me flying into Nancy and 23

I needed a minute to catch my breath after all of that bullshit, and when I came to, Nashu was unconscious. So is Indy, though I'm not sure when he showed up. Mr. Blobby is back, and he's holding up a Gorilla with a handgun (who gave him that??) Before we can act, Hustler appears and shoots Blobby in the back of the head, killing him instantly. The gorilla left pretty fast once he was dead.

We all had a nice talk. It's a little undercut since I hear Hustler went for 1000 again later, but I'm choosing to believe they were being genuine when we spoke here.

Before we can finish up, Lyra burst into the room and attacked Nancy. 23 engaged her before she could do any real damage, but the fuckin' Rubber Duck tried to give us the slip while we were all distracted. Hustler and I jumped for it, tackling the Duck and hurtling straight into... the secret Stairway to Heaven that was placed here, preemptively to block the Chaotic Seal. We all looped a couple of times, and then wrestled the Duck back into the Main Chamber, where 23 was finished kicking Lyra's ass. He promptly shot the Duck, turning it into a fine plasm, same as Blobby.

Hustler thanked us and left. We helped Nancy to her feet and tried to go back to watching the door, but we didn't get much rest until that Motherfucker Red Spooks walked in the door. Threatening revenge, he tried to Execute 23. Not sure how that works since it wasn't voted on, but nonetheless, I threw myself at the thing to try and get it to stop. Prying its focus from 23, it locked me in stasis, and the red sigils appeared while it tried to Execute me. 23 caught the opportunity and rushed in, killing it nearly instantly by tearing its internals out. No fanfare like the first one, it sort of just dissolved into a black mist.

...Giffany was next to show herself in. She was covered in blood, and... her leg had been replaced by a prosthesis. I was going to ask her what happened until I noticed the Mastermind flanked her. A sinister grin creeps across Giffany's face, and the two of them broke off to attack us. Nancy pulled a machete on Giffany while 23 and I moved to enact my plan. I switch to Hunter Style and we charge the Mastermind.

The Mastermind was quick to try and execute 23, similarly to Red Spooks, though with a set of crystalized shadow spears. While he was distracted, I set my plan into motion. Capture Pods are a miracle of engineering, and I thank the person who thought of them every day. With one perfect, extraordinary throw, he was gone. He was this close to turning his attention towards me and getting me killed, but it worked. Though, there was still Giffany to worry about. She panics, and sends out some kind of magical EMP. Since 23 is kept floating via the mask, he went down.

It was just me and her. I tried my best, shot at her a few times. That damned sword gave her too many options, and she took me out.

I'm sorry I couldn't keep it safe.
I'll show you a real dance....

Neither a harpoon or spatula seems like it could match the wound, and the pizza paddle is far too broad.

Checking the Armory, you see that it's been rendered into a heap of twisted, broken metal by what seems to be a gigantic explosion. The only thing untouched in here is a copy of Slicer IV: The Blade is Back, lying pristine on the ground.

You read a few pages, then toss it. It's junk.

You then try your own shotgun... The shape matches the wound quite well if you were to club him with it, though due to the nature of the abuse he has taken, you suspect that any long gun or similarly shaped object would match just as well.

(Aug 25, 2024 at 6:59 AM)Columbo Wrote: Any tools in the Boiler Room match the wound?
You check the Boiler Room, comparing a few larger tools to the wound. Most of them don't match at all, but a large monkey wrench is just as close as the shotgun is, as is the handle of a weed whacker or pressure washer.

It doesn't seem like there's any sign of the CNC machine being used tonight, the room largely looking the same as before in terms of metal scraps - though you suppose someone could have cleaned up.

Combing the area around the Occultic Seal, you see that it's devoid of anything of note. No real signs of anything being taken from this area either. You walk down to the remnants of the Mine Elevator and inspect the wreckage. There's plenty of pieces of broken, twisted metal, some of which would probably be pretty close to the wound like the other items checked against it - though you can't tell if anything has been taken.

Checking both of the Director's Offices, you notice that his "fishtank" is even more banged up now, with a large crack running through it. It seems like the culprit is his computer, which seems to have been thrown with inhuman force at the wall. There's nothing in either area that would match the wound though.

Finally, you walk around each Sunken room, opening the door but not entering - a solid wall of water greeting you at each. Only the room that used to be Lab Zero contains anything though - a twisted, bent mass of metal floating in the water, crushed by pressure. You can't tell what it used to be but it looks like it was once rather big.

You bodycheck Indiana Jones. He has his whip, which seems to have a knife tied to it, as well as a fedora, which he is wearing. He tells you not to take it off, and you oblige, patting it down instead. Nothing underneath.

You check Konata and Tinkaton...

Konata has a bedsheet, an elephant gun, and a strange black dagger. She also has a flashlight, a can of gasoline, and some matches.

Tinkaton meanwhile... Appears to be a gorilla, strangely. You uh... Search the monkey anyway, finding multiple guns, some ammunition, a meat tenderizer, and a bottle of deadly nightshade poison. Her hands are also strangely greasy.
