[ANALYZING RESULTS…]

It appears as though the majority of you have voted for [AGENT DESIGNATION - RAREGOLD]. My algorithms dictate that this is a favorable outcome, although… Only because they did confess.

Oh well. I am glad that we did not have a climactic finish. An ambiguous trial is recorded to have led to several instances of violence before.

[ANOMALY DESIGNATION - BPI-2300], please take the offender to the holding cell for questioning. It is possible that they possess a connection to the Crimson Eye or another organization. Please do not allow this one to escape.

Fear not. I have learned my lesson. A hunter's watch never falters. Come, to the Holding Cell.

As BPI-2300 closes in on Raregold, cornering them against the Lobby’s front desk, Raregold looks to the Museum Hall, a possible exit if they can slip away. They realize, suddenly, that their legs refuse to move. Their body as a whole - alarmingly stiff, as though flesh had turned to bone in that instant. BPI-2300 places a firm gloved hand on their shoulder, ready to begin the escort.

A gurgling, pained cry escapes Raregold’s lips, causing 2300 to take a step back.Raregold’s body seizes up, twitching uncannily as they begin to levitate into the air. Strange symbols begin to manifest in the air around them, and Raregold’s neck wrenches itself back, their eyes rolling backwards into their skull.

Raregold finds themselves… Back in the Black Forest. They lift an arm, spreading and closing their fingers to test their regained mobility, before taking a look around them. The trees’ canopy blocking out all but the faintest traces of moonlight.

The name, in other words, was accurate: this forest was black, alright. Except… in the distance - a small light, almost imperceptible through the thick branches, bobbed up and down, growing slowly closer. Curious, Raregold takes a few steps towards the light, until they reach a somewhat better-lit clearing, and realize what it belongs to.

A cloaked figure, almost impossibly tall, looms from the treeline, a lantern dangling from its withered hand. The figure pauses for a moment, seeming to be staring at Raregold for uncomfortably long, before raising the lantern into the air. In a blinding flash, Raregold finds the forest suddenly aflame all around them, the searing heat singing their hair from proximity alone..

The cloaked figure begins to advance, and Raregold, seeing no other escape, begins to run towards the flames. Grimacing in pain as the flames lick at their skin and clothing, Raregold flees through the dense foliage, the lantern-bearer in close pursuit. The pain becomes nearly unbearable, but eventually a glimmer of hope enters Raregold’s mind as they see it: the treeline, their way out.

Raregold grits their teeth and begins the final sprint, until their foot catches on a branch, and they are sent tumbling downwards. The forest floor gives way to an impossible stairwell, which Raregold tumbles down, smacking into every stair along the way until they collapse on the landing at the bottom.

The cloaked figure approaches Raregold, who looks up at it from the floor with watery eyes. The figure lowers their hood, revealing the face of… Raregold themselves. The figure solemnly removes a pair of medical tweezers from its pocket, and gracefully plucks out Raregold’s jugular in one smooth swipe.

In reality, Raregold’s twitching levitating body remains in the Lobby, in front of a stunned audience. Suddenly, in a jerky motion, Raregold’s neck snaps and their lifeless body lands in a heap on the floor, like a marionette freed from its strings.

Role Card:

Everyone stares silently, in shock from what they just witnessed. Among the crowd, one lone voice speaks up, from right next to the body.

…That was not me. I do not possess that ability.

A voice echoes from the hallway in response...

A very astute observation.

There is a 99.8% chance that your punishment would have been inadequate, so I have decided to lend a hand. You are welcome for the assistance.

I am Spooks, The Magical Cat™ - Version 1.0. I have been observing your activities at this facility. I believe we need to have a talk. Please refer to Page 36 of the Employee Handbook (Killing Game Emergency Response) for more information.
